Even Joel Comm makes a mistake

Even the top Internet Marketeers makes mistakes. Joel Comm in his attempt to sell the Adsense-Secrets 4 added an upsell page which created an uproar in the Online Community. This created so much buzz at http://www.problogger.net/archives/2008/04/20/adsense-secrets-40-launches.

So what actually happen. A lot of people were complaining that when they press the buy button, they were led to another page to subscribe for another service instead of leading it to the Purchase page where you can enter your credit card details. Actually the subscription service is an optional page where you skip it but most people find this tactic very sleazy especially for those newbies in this business.

So imagine wanting to buy a book but end up buying so many other things with it. It’s crazy right and for the last few years its been happening at several websites. It happen to Mark Warren’s System too ( Now its closed ). Such tactics will not work any more and if you are still doing it, I believe its time that you shut your website down and get out. We don’t need this rubbish anymore.

Lesson Learnt:
1) Sell what you intend to sell. Do not misled people to other things. State whatever you need to state in your first sales page or squeeze page whether its bonuses or whatever.

2) Get feedback and receive criticisms openly.

3) Give options. Usually most people will go for the cheapest value but if you have another value added service a lot more will consider the other options.

4) Apologize if you need to.
