What is wrong with dropping out of school

August 2, 2008 by Fadzuli · Leave a Comment

My goodness. I had a message recently that she found my blog by Yahooing for this phrase, “What is wrong with dropping out of school”. I’ve checked and its on page 1 under the Singapore yahoo. Goodness. I’ve never thought someone would type out that phrase.

As we message back and forth, I was worried that she might not have the relevant skills to go on in life. But I was wrong, our dear friend here is actually taking her Masters in Malaysia and at the moment struggling financially because she is a single mum. Therefore when she read my article, she too find comfort and understand that the paper chase wasn’t as worth it as most people think. For her case her degree would already given her a proper job and the necessary skills to start her own business if possible.

Well my article should not encourage you to stop studying because that is what you choose and the decisions you make should be guided by Allah s.w.t. because he knows all. Its just a point of view from where I came and how I perceive that knowledge should not just be gain via the paper chase and that knowledge you learn should be applied in a discipline and ethical way.

Feeling New

July 29, 2008 by Fadzuli · 4 Comments

From time to time its great to feel new!!

Just last night I reformatted my laptop due to the ever overloaded hard drive capacity and buggy scripts that’s affecting its performance. Yesterday alone I’ve experience the blue screen effect over 6 times in the office because of a Firefox plugin, its either the Alexa Toolbar or ScribeFire. So I had to use Safari to surf the net.

So anyway now the laptop is running superbly and the hard disks is not making too much noises anymore. So it feels like its brand new again..

Usually i would reformat my pcs or laptops every 6 months to clear the bugs. So how often do you do this?

Ymail?

I dont know about you. Perhaps I’m slower than the rest. Yesterday I received a subscriber with @ymail.com. For a long time, I thought this was spammer or something but to my surprise its Yahoo Mail.

Just google for ymail…or type ymail.com - Yahoo mail will appear.

So why did yahoo suddenly change their tails? i guess typing ymail.com is much easier than typing yahoo.com..

Well its easier for me to check my yahoo mails then… YMAIL.com

3 meetings and 1 talk

July 11, 2008 by Fadzuli · Leave a Comment

Yesterday was quite a hectic day and I only got home around 2.30 am in the morning and here I am blogging at 8.30 am.

Who did we meet. Well its not really confidential and I hope by sharing this, you will realise the amount of work I personally put in to firstly survive and then grow our company.

So yeah in the morning, Luqman (IslamicSG Networks Partner) and I went down to meet people from SimplyIslam.sg. We had a good chat and sharing session where were looking into areas where we can collaborate and push each other services further.

They provided a few good pointers about professionalism and taking the bar higher. As they pointed out at the moment, we (Islamicevents.sg) can’t gauge our own standards cos there is no other web company that is doing what we are doing yet but it does not mean we can be complacent. So the bros from SimplyIslam.sg pointed to us to a few other websites of similar nature which we can choose to take up and implement the functions.

Outsourcing ideas. This used to be a problem a few months back as we did not have any capital to start with. So probably we can do it now to develop the different parts of our site.

Then we rushed off to NUS to have lunch and I needed to clear the weekly newsletter to be sent out. Had been working on it since 6am. Usually on average it takes 3-4 hours to clear the newsletter part. So you see my Thursday mornings are usually taken up by it. So I had to stop halfway through because we have to meet the Bros from SimplyIslam.sg. So yeah in NUS, I’ve quickly finished up the newsletter and it was sent out by 2.30pm. For those who subscribed should have received it. For those who wish to subscribe to Islamicevents.sg Newsletter and get updates weekly on upcoming events and news, please click here to reach our subscription form

So yeah then we head off to Science Park Drive where we met the people from RETRIVA. They are the Malay/Muslim IT company that had created a software for the Medical Sciences. There were in the papers a few months ago about creating a medical breakthrough software ( Can’t remember details ). Anyway they wanted to outsource a project  and based on our meeting, the work is a lot but the returns we quite good as it was looking at a $20K to $30K range. But we told them frankly that we are already tied down this 3rd quarter of the year. We will still propose to them a quotation and timeline but we can only start in the 4th quarter insyallah.

So where up to next!! Bukit Batok Blk 150 - Let’s meet a Tauke Kedai Jamu and Kedai Kopi.  He needed a web host and a domain for his site as he wanted to market his “kueh-kueh”. So we discussed a little about business strategy and his positioning for this business. The Kueh Business is a tough market place but very few are online at the moment. Even if there are any, they are not publicised and advertised properly cos I dont seem to know of any site that is shouting loud enough.

So yeah finally after all those meetings its back in the office to prepare for Hafihz’s talk. I’ll put this up on another post as my notes are in the office at the moment. Do look forward for that one.

The schedule

July 4, 2008 by Fadzuli · 1 Comment

Wow thanks for the positive votes!!

Yup I did sign up for the course, $4,997. Somehow I have a good feeling it will take me to a different level of thoughts and at least be trained in NLP, be a better speaker and allow me to focus better.

Furthermore this can help me expand my networks also. That was the main intention right. My ultimate aim for my business is to create a Global Islamic Company. Therefore I have a good feeling that networking with Global Players like Dr Mell Gill will benefit me and my company in the long run.

So now my schedule will be quite tight in August.

1,2,3 August 2008 - On Course
9 & 10 August 2008 - Blogging Workshop
15,16,17 August 2008 - On Course
22, 23, 24 August 2008 - On Course
30, 31August 2008 - Blogging Workshop
5, 6, 7 September 2008 - On Course

Weekends Burn!! I guess its worth the sacrifice right!!

You can find out about the course here @ www.megacertification.com/

Wait for my next Posts. I’ve networked with another Global Person and will be writing about him. In the process of emailing and asking him a few questions. Be ready to be enlighten insyallah.
