What happens when you do not have the mindset to be rich?

August 6, 2008 by Fadzuli · 2 Comments

Recently in Dr Irfan’s blog, he asked his readers if they are ready to be rich? As we all know having a lot of money does not mean that you are rich because being rich is in the state of mind and how you control your finances.

So for example, if you have $10, how would you use that $10. The proper way of handling your finance depends on where you are and what age you are in. So for my age that $10, $5 need to be allocated to savings ( like it or not ). $1 for charity ( this money according to Abang Abu does not belong to you ). So you are left with $4.

And this $4 you need to squeeze all your bills, your makan, travelling expenses and so on. Do you think its possible? It sounds extreme right but it is possible. Especially in times when inflation is high, we do have the cut our expenses.

Then you ask when can I use the $5 savings. There’s another rule to that. Emergency, Life & Death situation or investment. When we say savings eh, I don’t mean putting it in a Deposit Account. You can put in the many investments schemes by the banks or the insurance companies to grow it. There is one particularly plan by HSBC where your interests ( riba ) is actually donated to the poor. I think its an awesome plan.

Perhaps that $5 can be used for much more..You can further break it down. $3 for fixed deposits. $1 for high risk investments and $1 for long term investments. You can switch those around if you like it. Well its up to you.

So if we do practise this method to bigger sums of money. Imagine how much you would have in your bank account with 2-3 years.

So when we do not have the right mindset to control our finances, a lot of us would be in deep trouble and being in debt all our lives. Same too when you have a lot of money, all that can be gone within days or weeks of useless spending or expenses.

So how are you spending your money or saving it? How much money do you allocate to yourself.? Let’s share..

X-Treme Millionaire

A few days back I manage to finish reading the right side of this book by Azizi Ali. I bought the book during the Berita Harian Conference two weeks ago.

What do you mean by right? Well the book is kind of weird but  i guess that is how he wanted to show people about being extreme. Unlike many books, this book requires you to refer to the left side or the right pages. The left pages, he wrote about his adventures to the different places, the thrills and experience. While the right pages are his tips, motivational information.

There was a point that he stated that great people had never had balance in the first place. Balance is for the meek and the mediocre people. People who seeks balance will never reach certain level of greatness.

As most people wish to have a balance life, like being a great father, being the best boss, being the best community worker, being the best president and so on. He mentions that you cannot be all. If you wish to be great choose one and pursue it to the greatest depth as you can. What separates you from the rest is the level of extreme action that you need to pursue in your field.

When I say extreme action includes your commitment to your cause, the things you do without asking for pay ( cos money will come eventually ), the discipline needed to reach the goals and many more.

Example - The Olympic Atheletes - The consistent training schedule and removal of entertainment during the periods to get ready for this special event. You’ll be surprised especially when you see former champions do their training. It could be even 2-3 years without eating junk food, 8 hours of physical training, no entertainment and so on. They do this just to keep their focus and its all about the Gold Medal!! No less.

He even quoted David Beckham - he was not as talented as many out there but he covered it up with shear determination and work ethics, he became a star in his own way. Bending the balls, being the best free kick speacilist in England and more.

Basicly you eat, sleep and shit the field that you are into.

Advertising Effectiveness and the Wave

July 22, 2008 by Fadzuli · 3 Comments

Catch the wave else you will lose out…

Did you know there is a wave for every business opportunity? We will only know this when we actually tried it out or if you happen to do much research you will be able to know this from season entrepreneurs.

Abang Abu and I was discussing stuff about the recent advertising effectiveness on BH.. It seems that there have been lesser response to our advertisement including my own Blogging Workshops. So the return of investments was not worth it. Its actually quite bad 3-5 calls only and 3 of them were closed the last time I advertise.

So you see..Closing the deal was not a problem because those who called up were already interested. All we needed was to tell them what exactly they are going to learn and what needed to be done.

What we needed were more calls.

Then about copyrighting…hmmm… OK i guess that needs to be improved on…

Size of ads…its kind of expensive to have bigger ones..but that’s not the point…the bigger the ads may not be effective at all..

Then it triggered me that do people actually want this at this time period? The wave is different and we may be fishing at the wrong time and place where the fishes are not there. The wave may not bring the fish at this time either.

So what are the waves I’m talking about? If you look at the calendar right now, these are the waves that you must catch.

Ramadhan and Syawal !! What are the opportunities available..

Ramadhan opportunities - are as such..Ramadhan Bazaars at the different locations, mosques and so on..So a lot of things can be sold, food, accessories, baju kurung, kuih muih and so on..

While Syawal brings in different opportunities because this is where wedding days thrive. According to Bro Luqman (who is getting married in October), he says that one the Ustadz during his Marriage Preparation Courses mention that the couples will receive much blessings / barakah from Allah s.w.t if they have their wedding during this period. So yeah now you know why they are so many weddings during the Syawal period.

So I was telling Abang Abu…maybe we need to pitch differently..Such as Abang Abu Financial Courses..Maybe we need to have courses to teach people to budget and use their money wisely for the ramadhan period.

While my blog will pitch..Use your blogs to promote your products this ramadhan!!

Don’t stop meeting people

June 20, 2008 by Fadzuli · 2 Comments

Especially in starting a new business, meeting people is important. Whether its online or offline, meeting people are essential because once you stop doing that you will realize that your incoming cash flow will also stop.

Personally I will try to arrange at least 1 meeting per day or at least a minimum of 3 meetings per week and conduct one lesson per week. By doing so it will automatically add more people to your contact list and expand on your network.

Meetings may not give you instantenous payments but what we want is to build relationship between us and our clients, our mentors, etc. Word of mouth marketing is better than other forms of marketing thus in meetings are one way to do it. Thus this is also a way to build up your network. Its part of Marketing..

So are you stump and seeing negative cashflow right now? I suggest picking up the phone and have a chat with your clients to get updates from them and meet them if possible. It may not be necessarily be for business.

So how many people do you meet every day or every week?

Maintain your communications channel

June 3, 2008 by Fadzuli · Leave a Comment

Did you know? Emails are meant to be responded within 24 hours and smses in 1 hour and calls immediately. This is how the world have changed and how impatient people can be when they need things to be done.

Recently I’ve gotten emails that I would not bother to reply back cos it was a mere lapse of time and to reply to it will also waste my time.

Usually the excuses would be the email end up in the spam box ( ok this one can be excused ) or I’ve have not checked this email for a long time. Come on lah “Never check this email for a long time”..That’s not really a good excuse.

Anyway its important especially when you are running your own business or freelance work to maintain your lines of communications. Be it in email, handphones or  letters.

Did you know I have 10 over email accounts but all these emails are forwarded to one email which is my gmail. So yeah if you decide to use another email. Do make sure, you forward the previous email account to your new one. So at least you don’t lose your customers.

I’ll probably come out with the Email Forwarding tutorials soon.
