Creating Content that is useful.

November 27, 2008 by Fadzuli

I’ve been messing around with videos lately and there’s this addiction to it because video creation is actually FUN. Two days ago, I’ve created a video to get people to know “HOW TO GET TO NOWASIA” which is my office. We have students, business friends, clients always ask us this question all the time. So imagine how one video solves the answer.

So today’s topic we are talking about useful content

So yeah if you’ve been a Internet Marketeer yourself, you will hear of this term that  ”Content is King”. Without great content, people don’t come over and over again.

When we talk about useful content. We actually ask ourselves what our readers want to read. So let’s look at the THINKING process.

1) Understand your objective first.

Objective: Running a free Preview for Internet Marketing Basics.

So my first content or blog post tells people what the course is all about. People want to know what I’m going to teach. Where it is, what time is it being conducted. Who is the speaker and how many spaces available. Basic stuff.

2) Give your readers what they want.

E.g People want to know more details of the Free Preview. Remember this article

So I need to create content to trigger the different types of readers. Some come in to learn but others come just to check if I’m the REAL DEAL. So there are the different types of people but more importantly the post should consider their WANTs

FOCUS on the wants…

“I want to learn Internet Marketing because……”
“I want to have this knowledge to be applied to my business & ………..”
“I want to know how to get there………”
“I want to …”

Instead of thinking about what you want, think of what they want.

Consider reading this article again to help you to understand what TICKS people.

3) Ask Questions..

If you can’t figure out the wants. Come out with a set of questions related to the stuff that you are promoting. Get some friends or family members to answer those questions. You’ll be surprised to get a lot of solutions and understand people’s WANTs.

4) Develop your contents based on those phsychological triggers and the ANSWERs to the QUESTIONS..

So now you know the answers and how people think. Write out your content or record a video to answer those questions.

If you do this, your content will automatically be useful to the market you are targeting to?

5) Testing….

Show your content and ask for feedback.. Definitely without testing and getting feedback how would you know that the content is effective.

Ok that’s all for today.. I haven’t posted the Smart Seminar Day 3. Insyallah I will get to that.

    (Point 3. Ask Questions)

Asking people’s Wants is the base. We need to go deeper.

Here’s a marketing tip on what exactly to look out for when asking questions:

When you first start asking, the first layer revealed are often the Attributes (e.g. I like coffeebean because the coffee tastes nice, the place is nice…) …

Ask them why on this one, and soon they’ll reveal the Consequences: (e.g. Nice coffee makes me feel good) …

Lastly, ask them on this one carefully, and you’ll soon understand the Values behind the wants (e.g. Feeling good gives makes me feel that I’m top of things, gives me assurance)…

Kaching! Assurance…. now that you know assurance is a main factor, you may want to position your marketing angles along that factor. (for this example that is).

So there… A-C-V questioning. Hope this small tip helps.

    Thanks Hafihz…

Yup..you need to ask questions to trigger certain sparks or I call it a spontaneous reaction. And keeping in mind that you want to find out how you can help or serve the other party.
