I have an email list of 2,300 from this list, I have another list of 500 in another list and then I have 6,000 plus friends in facebook that I want to inform them about a product I am promoting.
Will you send the letters/message to all of them at once?
In the past I would do that but now its more important to develop a “Test and Measure” approach, I have actually stopped pressing the “send all at once button”.
One of the main reasons I do that because by sending everything all at once doesn’t give me an opportunity to test and sample the lists out if these guys really take the bait or buy the suggestions. So by sending to all at once may not be a good idea actually. For some cases its good but most of the time I don’t find it working as well.
Split testing – its a term used well in the marketing industry to break down a list into certain groups and send them different information to promote the same product. Sometimes the information are send out at different periods with the same messages just to measure if people actually respond to the adverts.
Say you are promoting a Product – you should figure 3 ways to describe the product for the customer.
Then you break down your contacts into groups. Let’s say 3 groups.
So today you do this.
Send to group A – Send Description A
Send to group B – Send Description B
Send to group C – Send Description C
The next day, you rotate it.
Send to group A – Send Description C
Send to group B – Send Description A
Send to group C – Send Description B
And the last day..
Send to group A – Send Description B
Send to group B – Send Description C
Send to group C – Send Description A
Try this method out and see if you can get better traction and results. No harm trying it out.
