Email Marketing...

This is a very long topic to talk about..So bear with me. If you have read my free e-book about my free e-tips I did mention that email is the easiest form of communication and the most effective way of marketing to our friends. Furthermore everyone who is on the internet will likely be using an email service either from Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail. To tell you the truth almost all the social network platforms like Facebook, Friendster and Multiply depends on Email Marketing without it people would not be able to know what's going on with them.

As the years goes by, email systems are constantly being improved from just Text based email to today's Graphical or HTML emails. From where I see it, email services will be here for the long run.

So let's start with the lesson now.

Before we even start to market our services/products, it is important to know the ethics of email marketing.

1) Keep your emails as short as possible & keep it to the point.

Let's not waste people's time. In one day I can receive up to 200 emails per day. Do I read all of them? So imagine if each one are like essays, do you think I would read all of them? Of course not right?

So let's solve this problem...KEEP YOUR EMAILS SHORT. If possible less than 150 words.

2) Do not spam people - do not send more than once.

There are times that we get too excited to market our services, we tend to send the email too many times to our friends. Now just ask yourself. Would you like to receive 2-3 of the same emails. You will not like it right? Same here. So let's not do it to others. Carefully choose your contacts to send to.

3) Only send to your contact lists.

How do you feel when someone you don't know sends you an email? Furthermore the emails do not have proper introductions. That is the same as SPAMMING people. Therefore it is important to send emails who are in your contact list when you are promoting your products.

Remember our 3rd lesson. Click here.

Where I ask you to invite your contacts using the Viral Inviter Software?

What happens is that the software will extract out all your contacts from your own Gmail, Yahoo, etc contact list. You are then given the option to choose the friends that you wish to invite before you send the message to them.

* The downside of this software is that it does not tell you what message has been sent out as it has already been pre-programmed on what to say.

By default, if the names and emails appears in that contact list, it means that you have at least communicated with that person at least once. For Gmail, such contacts are added automatically when there is at least one reply from you or the person you send to. Yahoo and Hotmail requires manual adding to contact list. So now you know the extra advantage of using Gmail. :)

Here's how it is....

So if you happen to use Gmail, try clicking on contacts on the LEFT side bar. You will see a similar screen as shown above.

Look at Suggested Contacts. That is the list of people that you have actually communicated with but they are not in your contact list yet. Gmail have saved this contacts in case you forget them or you need to get back to them again.

So how do I actually build this up? Its done automatically for me because I used the vacation responder ( Taught in my ebook. Click here to download ). The moment the vacation responder replies back to these people's messages, its stored inside the suggested contact list.

All you have to do is Move the Suggested Contacts to your Contact List as shown below.

move

So now you know how I have been collecting my email contacts ....Another SECRET which is actually not a SECRET.. :)

Hey Wait.... How do these people email me in the first place?

Well that's another tutorial to talk about it. What I can tell you now is that you have to create Value. The moment you learn to create that, people will come to you.

So now let's move on to the next point..

4) Use BCC fields when you wish to send to more than one people at a time.

How many times have you receive emails that has a bunch of other emails that comes with it like shown above? Definitely plenty right? Furthermore some of the email in that list you have no idea who they are. Is it right to do so? Yes and No.

Yes. If the group of email recipeints that was send along with it are also in your contact lists, then I think that's fine and usually this is done for conversation purposes.

But this is not appropriate for Mass Emailing. For mass emailing, I would not recommend you to send every email in the To field. Instead use BCC.

Imagine me sending an email to 1000 people and to read the messages, I have to scroll down the whole list of emails before I could reach the messages. Don't you think this is irritating?

What's BCC?

BCC stand for Blind Courtesy Copy. When you send out an email to a group of people, the recipients will not be able to see the other emails hence this gives people more privacy.

So how do you send a BCC email?

For those who know this please bear with me....For those who don't know please learn this...

5) Try not to have too many images in your emails.

I'm not going to teach you to add images in your emails now because it requires quite a few steps and you do need a server, blog or image servers like Flicker or Picasa to store those images. So let's skip that first but now I want to tell you to use zero images in your email.

In fact most of the Gurus out there hardly uses images in their email because they want to get their point through their writings. Having images may distract readers from finishing the articles.

Images can help to enhance your articles but it can also be distracting. Kind of a double edge sword. We'll talk about it again later in the course.

That's the end of this lesson. I hope you have benefited from it one way or another.
