And it has to start with finding out how the young are inducted into extremism.

So Ustaz Muhammad Haniff Hassan and Ustaz Mohd Ali produced a booklet titled Don’t Be Extreme in Your Religion.

The two men, who had also produced a booklet explaining jihad last year, are also terrorism analysts at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

They produced the booklet based on their knowledge of Islam and research work, which included talking to extremists.

Targeted at parents and youths, the booklet contains 23 points on how extremist websites teach their readers to hate.

Ustaz Muhd Haniff said youths are the target readers because their high rate of computer-literacy, impressionable nature and generally shallow understanding of religion. This makes them vulnerable.

The nature of online content also makes it easy for anyone to speak about teachings of a religion - even if they are not qualified to do so - he said.

I really applaud these two Uztads efforts in combating terrorism. It ain’t a easy task to do so. I hope the booklet will be beneficial to everyone.

It reminded me about a friend of mine I met last week. He told me his story about his working colleague recently married who surf the internet for Extremist contents and eventually today is in captivity. My friend explain about the behavioral changes and the sudden absence from the workplace and later heard from the news about his capture.

So yes without a doubt the Internet is a place that can affect on our beliefs and iman. So guys out there watch what you read and websites that you visit. What you see or read may not may not be real - its just a gimmick to get your attention and eventually lead you the other side.
