This just comes across my mind waking up this morning.. Hence whatever ideas needs to be written down.
Firstly I want to bring you back to one my articles - Do you believe that there is no competition in Business? I mention in that article that the competition is actually yourself and how you should learn to collaborate rather than compete.
However there are times when the playing field does get matched and there is no way collaborations can be made. Hence how then do you compete in such an environment?
Well Dr Irfan answered this a few months back. He said that he wasn’t the first Malaysian Internet Millionaire and he wasn’t the best speaker but what he did was he did Deliberate Actions to get people and his students/clients to REMEMBER him.
Let’s get to understand what those bold words truly mean.
Firstly success is not by accident. Its reached or attained via actions that are being done from time to time.
Example if you want to get Good Grades you have to STUDY hard on a consistent basis. In this case it means that you have to study to achieve the grades and studying is the action taken before you attempt the papers and getting the predictable results.
Hence its the same here, to BEAT the COMPETITION, you need to have or do things to get more people on your side and get them to remember you, your company or your business.
How do you get them to remember you?
This boils down to the nature of your business. Here are some ways.
1) Start a blog and write consistently. I know some of you are struggling to do this because you have no idea or no reason to start a blog. So this is a reason. When you write you will consistently get back to your audience and tell them that you are still in the game.
2) If happen that your business involves products. Hence when you deliver the products, give them a little something to remember you. It may eat up your costs but look long term. You are in business for the long term not short term profits.
What I do is that I add a Motivational CD by Abang Abu in the packages I sent. So surprise your customer by giving them incentives. You will see long term results. Insyallah.
3) The service business. I see a lot of Insurance agents have a few referral techniques. Even my own agent does it to me but they usually forget the incentives. Hey if I refer you this and that, then what do I get? You see even if we don’t ask for it. You should surprise us with something.
So the key is SURPRISE.. SURPRISE>>SURPRISE>>SURPRISE.
