Integrating Useful Contents With Your Adverts

Heard of the banner blindness concept? If you haven’t then let me try to explain it to you.
Everyone especially if you are living in the city will be exposed by thousands of advertisements, labels and signs on a daily basis. Thus the brain is already in tune with some of this ads and the brain will tell you that its the usual stuff and you won’t be bothered about it.
So today Advertisers and Advert Providers are looking for creative ways to attract attention to potential clients. That is why you can see Videos Ads and Audio Adverts being the “In” thing at the moment. But to be honest those kinds of Adverts are a Bomb to create. Its not easy either because you need quite a bit of talent and experience to create effective adverts via video and audio.
So the last few weeks, I have been thinking and thinking, how the heck can I make the adverts for my advertisers and friends stand out from the rest. So there was this idea I got from the Adsense Book that says that you need to somehow integrate your adverts with your content, because people come to your website to read the content not the adverts.
Then it stumble me that Luqman had wrote this code for the ” Gregorian to Islamic Dates ” last November and he managed to extract the Solat Timings from a relevant source with “PERMISSION”. So I figured maybe I can do something about it…
Solat Timings Integrated with Adverts…Yeah!!!

Hopefully with this, people will not miss it right? Well you never know but I’m trying it out with Shahib DYNTV to check out the effectiveness. See the Advert on the left.
Its on Islamicevents.sg Main page right now.
Anyway I’m developing customise prayer time such as shown on the left for FREE provided that you don’t remove our logo.
So if you want a customised version drop me a mail to fadzuli@islamicevents.sg. Otherwise you can view the ready made ones here.
Currently it can be placed in blogs and websites only. I’m still figuring out how to pull info from PHP to FLASH so that it can be embedded in the social networks also. Any Action Script Programmers out there that can help me out?
It seems that the last few days, I’ve been putting my developer hat again and I hope my business and marketing skills don’t get rusty…
Ooh yeah have you guys or gals downloaded the IAliff software to your phones? If not click here.
Feel free to comment on this idea….
Putting Advertisements
June 10, 2008 by Fadzuli · 2 Comments

Recently in ProBlogger.net, Darren Rowse asked his readers if it is alright to put advertisements on their site when they start their blog. It depends and you also need to ask what is this blog for? Is it for commercializations - meaning to generate income or just personal blog that does not generate income at all.
Personally this is what I think. I started blogging since 2004 and have never monetize my site before July last year. So well very few people were reading my blog at that time but I’ve learned that you can actually develop income through it. So why not right put some Adverts and earn money from it. Its your blog anyway and its your choice.
So when you begin your blog. Should you put Ads? My answer is yes. You need to tell your audience from the start that your blog have advertising spaces. Even if traffic is low. The intentions are clear and people will not misinterpret you later. Then you must tell them why you are doing it. The Ads may not necessarily be for profit. It can just be a banner telling your friends that you are organizing an event or helping a friend to promote his products.
Some people will just say “Alah di ni nak buat duit dari aku!!”. If you are those type of people I prefer that you stay away from my site…”Seriously”..Just like adverts on TV its just meant to promote the products that’s all, its not forcing you to buy or take up the service. So if you do not want to click the Ads my advise is “Don’t click”.
So yeah in conclusion “Put your Ads and start Monetizing your Site!!”. If you are on platforms that do now allow this make a MOVE!!
