Golfing…

Well don’t be mistaken, I do not play Golf. Yesterday I happen to be helping out with a Golf Charity Event for Kampong Chai Chee CC and I did their website too http://www.golfcharity.info/. I found a very nice wordpress template so yeah I thought it was appropriate for the occasion. It doesn’t have much content though because I hadn’t had the time to do it either.

I was assigned at one of the holes to make sure that the Golfers didn’t cheat to qualify for a lucky draw prize. As I recalled it was at hole 2, Tanah Merah Country Club, Tampines Course. At the same time, I was also promoting New Moon Chicken Esseince. 

Rubbing shoulders with these rich folks was quite scary I say. Let me share with you an incident. Prior to this I have no idea who these people are. All I know was the company they represented and their names as it was listed in the list. Some of them were guests of the companies. Basicly we wont be able to know if they are from that particular company or were they guests of guests unless we ask.

I wont be mentioning names, so I’ll just use their nicknames.

The Biscuit King.

Biscuit King: Can I seat down?
Me: Yes you can?
Biscuit King: Are you a volunteer or working here?
Me: Yes, I’m a volunteer.
Biscuit King: Wah so young, do volunteer work already? So are you working or studying?
Me: I’m already working Sir, I’m running my own Web Development Business.
Biscuit King: Wah so young, start business already?

For a while there I stump. How old then do you actually start to do business and volunteering. 

Me: So how about you Sir, what do you do?
Biscuit King: I run a Trading Business.
Me: What kind of products do you trade in?
Biscuit King: I deal with Biscuits. 
Me: Are you from ……. Company?
Biscuit King: How do you know?
Me: I’ve might seen your company in the list.

Biscuit King: I’m afraid young man that my company wasn’t part of this charity. I was invited by my friend here.
Me: Pardon me, I have made a mistake.

Anyway of all the Biscuit Company, how many companies can you really just shout out…haha..I was just tikaming but I did hit the spot..

After which, the Green was cleared and it was his turn to Tee Off. 

It was brief but you must understand that this brief moments can bring you more opportunities in the future. Who knows these guys wants to develop an Internet marketing campaign someday.

So back to the Golf event. I had to sit at 2nd Hole for about almost 5 hours, under the hot sun. Ok perhaps under a lot of shades too. Basicly I learn quite a lot about people and the game. At least now i know whats PAR 3, green, handicap scores and all the other lingos. Still have a lot more to learn though and it has been quite an experience.

Have to thank the Chairman of the event, Eugene, and Innogolf for running a great event as the nursery centres that we were raising for will be receiving up to over SGD $400K of funds.
